Air Force helps kids stay fit with FitFactor

FitFactor is a youth health and fitness initiative sponsored by Air Force Services Family Member Programs. FitFactor encourages physical activity and healthy eating habits of youth from 6 to 18 years old.

New this year, parents can enroll in the program, track activities, and act as health ambassadors for their children. This initiative has been instrumental in educating countless youth throughout the Air Force on the many benefits of an active lifestyle.

There are five FitFactor levels: energy, strength, agility, adventure and endurance. Prizes are earned and awarded to youth as they reach each FitFactor level. In addition to having fun, winning prizes and getting fit, FitFactor also encourages youth to:

* Be physically active for at least 60 minutes each day

* Include friends and family participation in fun activities and games

* Make healthy eating and lifestyle choices

* Limit the amount of screen time (television and computer) they log each day

* Adopt healthy exercise routines including a broad range of physical and leisure-time activities

* Set personal goals for themselves

Those interested should visit the base Youth Center to enroll in the program. Once enrolled, youth can log points at home or from any computer with internet access.

Take advantage of this tremendous opportunity to win some great prizes...and get fit at the same time.
