Oct. 26, 1966: An Eastern Airline Constellation with 63 personnel on board made an emergency landing at Andrews after two left wing engines shut down and the landing gear failed to retract upon departure from Washington National Airport.

Oct. 26, 1990: The 1st Helicopter Squadron participates in its initial dispersal exercise called ‘‘Eagle Surge.”Oct. 27, 1974: The ‘‘Rathskeller” German-themed restaurant at Andrews closed down due to lack of customers.

Oct. 27, 1983: Members of Andrews security forces deployed to the Caribbean in support of operations in Grenada.

Oct. 28, 1983: The first wounded Marines airlifted from the terrorist attack on their barracks in Beirut arrived at Andrews.
