Issue: I went down to Andrews at midnight the other night to pick up my neice and her family, who just came in on a flight from Alaska. I hadn’t been on Andrews for about 25 years, so I asked the military guard for a map. He said he didn’t have one. I then asked for directions to the passenger terminal. To make a long story short, we drove all around – literally – your fine facility until we stumbled upon the terminal. Getting back out to the Main Gate was pretty much the same story. We were almost back to the gate before we saw a sign for the Main Gate. Is there anything being done to impove the signs?

Answer: Thank you for your inquiry and interest in directional signage on Andrews. Our goal with directional signage is to aid motorists in locating frequently populated facilities throughout the installation or other facilities that are routinely used by newcomers or others visiting the base. Examples include signage to the lodging office, hospital, base exchange, Commissary and various recreational facilities. Unfortunately, it is not practical to provide directional signage to each facility on base. However, based on your feedback, we will review our current directional signage and determine if additional signs are necessary.

Additionally, we plan to make maps available at the installation gates that will indicate the location of commonly visited facilities throughout Joint Base Andrews. Thanks again for your feedback.
